NAHBS’17 Part 4: Don Walker – Yолkep – Eddy Merckx
NAHBS 2017, Salt Lake City: Next up from the North American Handmade Bike Show is the offerings from Don Walker. Nic Sims also spotted two very special bikes: A custom junior Eddy Merckx and a retro Russian influenced track bike.

NAHBS is a bike show, but it’s full of art and like art there is all sorts, some you like and some you don’t but you always appreciate the time and effort it takes to produce. There are the big guys that bring a lot of bikes to the show, they are the more well known of the custom builders. Then there are the others guys maybe less well known who by attending rightfully deserve a mention, this is the first batch of a few that turned my head.

Don Walker the man behind the show is an amazing builder, who has come from racer to aircraft mechanic to custom builder and now event organizer. His bikes have graced the board of plenty of velodromes around the country. Thank you Don for what you bring to our sport. Check out his website

The show is mainly adult bikes but there was this Eddy Merckx, which was his only custom junior road bike. More info on Eddy Merckx Cycles here.

In the Campagnolo booth was a Don Walker bike made to resemble one of the old Russian track bikes even down to the name translated into Russian and the cool Mikhail Gorbachev picture on the seat tube.
