Ed Roadside: It was cold and wet on Sunday for the men's World championships in Yorkshire on Sunday - It took a hard man to see it through, and that man was... Ed Hood! The riders also had a lot to do with the day, but at least they had exercise to keep them warm, Ed only had a few 'Roadside ' bars. It was an exciting, if damp day, here is how Ed saw it go down.

Ed Roadside: The small affair of a disqualified World champions wasn't going to spoil the fun of the Dutch fans in Yorkshire. The day after the Nils Eekhoff disappointment the orange men from Holland certainly had a lot to shout about with the first two places in the Woman's race. Ed Hood had to be there to see Annemiek Van Vleuten take her rainbow jersey.

Worlds Photo Gallery: After the controversy of the Men's Under 23 race, the Dutch Elite Women made amends and took first and second places. Heather Morrison was 'Roadside' to take in the fun at the start and the finish. At least it was dry, no need for those umbrellas!

Sept 30, 2019 - The Yorkshire World championships came to climax with a ride through pouring rain and cold temperatures - Reports, results and video from Harrogate. Nils Eekhoff disqualification - Top Story. Bahrain-Merida sack Rohan Dennis, rider contracts, Michaelsen NTT head director, teams reject Classics Series, Boels-Dolmans, Euro cross champs and Bernal to ride Saitama.

Worlds Race Report: The new World cycling champion is Mads Pedersen of Denmark. The young Dane out-sprinted Matteo Trentin (Italy) and Stefan Küng (Switzerland). Top favourite Mathieu van der Poel (Netherlands) was part of the decisive leading group, but cracked on the run in, as did Trentin's countryman, Gianni Moscon. Peter Sagan (Slovakia) jumped away from the peloton for 5th.

Ed Roadside: The Men's Under 23 Road Race had it all! Hard conditions, tough racing and... Controversy. Not the best end to the day as 'winner' Nils Eekhoff was disqualified for spending a little too much time behind his team car after a crash. Ed Hood was there to see the full story unfold.

There is a very special jersey that, once you win it at a one day event, it is yours for a year wherever you race. This jersey, is of course, the glorious rainbow-striped confection first donned by Alfredo Binda in 1927. Its fascinating history is the subject of “Chasing the Rainbow: The Story of Road Cycling's World Championships” by Giles Belbin.

Worlds Race Report: Annemiek van Vleuten is the new women's World champion. The Dutch rider attacked 105 kilometres from the finish, from then on she never looked back and rode solo to the finish in Harrogate. Van Vleuten finished with a lead of over 2 minutes on her country-woman, Anna van der Breggen and Australian Amanda Spratt to win her first World title on the road.

Worlds Photo Gallery: Day 2 of Heather Morrison's World championships in Yorkshire wasn't the most successful, but it wasn't a great day for the Dutch either! Heather was there on the finish line in Harrogate to take in the action, confusion and, eventually, the joy of the Men's Under 23 World championship race.

Ed Roadside: After the Elite men's time trial, the Yorkshire World championships have jumped to the road race rainbow jersey competition and Ed Hood is in Harrogate for more action. First up was the stunning win by Quinn Simmons in the junior mens race.

Worlds Race Report: Two more road races today in Yorkshire: The junior women and the Under 23 men fought it out in wet conditions again. Both races were tough battles with rainbow jerseys going to Megan Jastrab of the United States and Samuele Battistella of Italy.

Ed Roadside: From the comfort of his 'virtual cafe' Ed Hood hit the Yorkshire roads for his favourite event - The time trial, and better than that - The World elite men's time trial. The best men against the clock lined up in Northallerton for Ed's appraisal. Of course, the star of the day was Rohan Dennis.

Worlds Race Report: Quinn Simmons was the pre-race favourite for junior World championships, and the American talent soloed impressively to the title. The 18-year-old Simmons rode alone for 30 kilometres to finish ahead of Italian Alessio Martinelli and countryman Magnus Sheffield. Enzo Leijnse of the Netherlands was 4th.

Worlds Race Report: Australian Rohan Dennis won the World time trial championship for the second year in a row. The Australian beat European champion, Belgium's Remco Evenepoel and World individual pursuit champion, Filippo Ganna of Italy to the lower podium places on dry Yorkshire roads.

Worlds Road Race Preview: Sunday sees the biggest one-day race on the calendar hit the roads of Yorkshire and after 280 kilometres we will have a new World champion. A 'Nobody' never wins the Worlds road race, but there have been some surprises over the years. This year's race is wide open and Ed Hood takes a look at who's going to be battling for the rainbow jersey.
