Alberto Bettiol (EF Education First) put on an extraordinary performance to win the 2019 Ronde van Vlaanderen. Bettiol took off all by himself as he launched a fantastic attack on the legendary “Old Kwaremont” wall, with about 18 km to go to the finish line.

Race Report: Alberto Bettiol was the first to the top of the final ascent of the Oude Kwaremont and he kept his attack going all the way to the line. A high calibre group followed him home but a lack of cohesion ended their efforts. Over six hours of 'full gas' action gave the Italian his first win as a pro.

The flying Dutchman took advantage of the might of the Quick-Step Floors squad - It was a spittle-chinned personal time trial to the line. He built a lead and never looked like he’d lose it.
