With gravel racing taking off around the world it’s no surprise to hear that New Zealand’s premier gravel race the UCI 1.2 Gravel and Tar Classic along with the women’s 1.2 La Femme plus their Gran Fondo challenge the Slicks and Stones 100 is back again for 2020 bigger and better than ever.

L’Eroica, “the Heroic,” runs every October and of course PEZman Leslie Reissner had to join the lucky participants enjoying some fine weather, great food and some truly terrible roads on heavy bicycles with inappropriate gearing and lousy brakes. The Mid-Atlantic U.S. has a Spring Classic Series organized by Kermesse Sport. It’s a series of four events that emulate both the cobbled and Ardennes Classics of Northern Europe. The Fools Classic, Kermesse Sport’s original ride founded 13 years ago, is the series’ La Doyenne, even though it more closely resembles the Ronde Van Vlaanderen than it does LBL.

The off-road/path style of event has been growing over recent years, so to give us background info, Bruce Carnevale entered 'The Dirty Boar'. For the second year; 'The Boar' started in the Haute Fagnes in Belgium, goes to the foothills of the German Eifel forest, before looping past Eupen and returning to the Haute Fagnes. 164km with 2600mts of climbing and practically no asphalt.
