Bookshelf: On January 2 every year there is a big event in Castellania, a tiny village in Italy's Piedmont region. This year the morning began with a mass in the little church, there was a special opening of Casa Coppi, and in the afternoon a visit to nearby Novi Ligure and the Museo dei Campionissimi. Because on January 2, 1960, sixty years ago, Fausto Coppi died and a cycling legend began.

Obituary: The greatest ever Italian cyclist, Felice Gimondi, passed away on Friday after suffering a heart-attack while swimming in the sea off the Sicilian coast. Ed Hood remembers the always smooth and cool Italian character who was a champion amongst some of the best ever road men.

Bianchi confirms its presence in women’s professional cycling by extending its sponsorship deal with Team Giusfredi Bianchi also for 2017. The renewed Team Bianchi Giusfredi will consist of nine young riders, eight Italians and one from Israel.

Bianchi wish to express the deepest sympathy to its iconic champion Felice Gimondi as his mother, Domenica Angela Salvi, passed away yesterday at the Santa Maria rest home in Laxolo di Brembilla, Northern Italy. She was 103. The funeral will take place in Sedrina on Tuesday, December 10th, at 10.30 am.

Bianchi owner Salvatore Grimaldi celebrated the opening of a new Bianchi Cafè and Cycles in Malmo (Sweden) on Thursday, November 28th. Three years after the unveiling of the first Bianchi concept store in Stockholm, Malmo’s café is now the third in Sweden, while another Bianchi Café and Cycles is set to be launched next spring.
