    Rider Interview: It feels like Joey Rosskopf has been around for ever, the man from Georgia, USA has been a pro since 2010 in four different teams, not bad for a 26 year-old. In his second year with the BMC team, 2016 has been his break-through season with the overall win in the French Tour du Limousin. Ed Hood caught up with Joey the get the story.

    As the trend towards eating more real foods on the bike grows, I hear more and more questions about eating raw nuts, bars made with bacon and cheese or nut butters while racing or training. Let’s look to clarify why the average bike racer (not extreme ultra endurance events lasting over 15 hours) should not rely on fats as fuel during and immediately prior to competition.

    Race Report: Nairo Quintana laid down the most impressive marker so far in this Vuelta with a clinical stage win at the iconic Lagos de Covadonga. The diminutive Colombian climber used his Movistar team perfectly throughout the stage and then put Alberto Contador to the sword to take back his race lead.

    Ask a coach about “winning” and he might cite threshold power, great tactical acumen, or the importance of a strong team; each an important element without question, but what else goes into the equation? In the end it often comes down to mental focus and the ability to sort out the irrelevant.

    Race Report: Stage 7 was a complicated affair, with a hard parcour it was not a day for the climbers and not a day for the sprinters. In the end a sprinter won, although Belgian Jonas Van Genechten is more of a ‘puncheur’ of a rider, he was the best at the finish line.
