Cool Gear: Stella Azzurra Bars, Stem, Seatpost
Carbon, carbon, carbon!!! We know, it’s all we talk about, but at least we’re still seeing lots of cool developments from this “wunder-plast”. The shapability of carbon is unmatched, and we’re seeing designs for every taste. Italian maker Stella Azzurra has done some pretty cool stuff of their own – here’s a look at their latest handlebars, stem, and seatpost…

Tirreno™ Professional Carbon-Fiber Bar
Stella Azzurra’s top of the line is this gorgeous handlebar – carbon-fibre all the way.

The idea is to give the rider a better grip at the tops, both while you’re climbing and on the flats. Stella Azzurro’s research led the ergonomic design of the Tirreno, which offers a better hold, thanks to its wide, super-conformable palm shape, along with finger beds to keep your hands from moving.

This, of course, means a more consistent body position while climbing, which results in greater pedalling efficiency. What’s more, they look pretty doggone cool! (Ed. Note: Yes – he actually said “doggone”.)

On the road it gives you a great feeling. You’re able to find many positions for every situation. One of the best bar that I ever tried.

Specs:
– Material: Polished, professional grade carbon fiber.
– Clamp size: 31,8mm.
– Widths: 42 & 44cm center to center.
– Shape: Ergonomic tops, anatomic drops.
– Weight: 280g,
– Price: 559.99USD suggested

So it’s not cheap, but we are living in a material world, and in this case the material is carbon fibre!

ViceVersa® Professional Magnesium Stem
When you think to magnesium, you think certainly about the higher production costs. Beyond that, Stella Azzurra believes in the good qualities of this material – one of the lightest and stiffest known in bike components.

Since magnesium is a humidity-sensitive material, the stem has been protected with a special oxide process. In addition, ViceVersa® is powder-coated, making it extremely resistant to scratches and blows. It’s also CNC machined in Italy after the investment casting and sports titanium fitting. As they say “making it a virtual objet d’art”. ViceVersa® is designed for “flipping”!

Specs:
– Material: Magnesium alloy AZ91
– Sizes: from 90 to 130.
– Fork sizes: 1-1/8” (includes shim to fit 1” steerer tube).
– Clamp sizes: 31.75mm and 26.00mm.
– Weight: 100grams.
– Price: 299.99USD suggested

Monza™ Professional Carbon-Fiber Seat Post
Light and safe, the Monza’s head and clamp assembly are formed from high-grade 7075T6 Ergal aluminium alloy via CNC machining. The shaft of the Monza is hand made in Italy using only professional –grade European carbon fiber fabric. The design is really nice and elegant, good for every kind of bike. But by my personal opinion, it’s a seat post that won’t pass unnoticed even on a pro bike!

Specs:
-Material: Carbon fiber shaft and alloy 7075T6 clamp.
– Diameter: 27.2mm.
– Price: $329.99USD suggested

Tecno-Spugna® Professional Handlebar Tape
Stella Azzurra’s Tacno-Spugna® (tek-no spoon-ya) Custom Comfort System® of five specialized tapes lets you choose the perfect feel for whatever conditions the road, trail or track throw at you. Tecno-Spugna® pro tapes are smoother, tougher and lighter than conventional cork-flake wraps, so you can’t lose!

Specs:
-Material: EVA foam
– Weight: 50grams/180cm (average weight – medium density).
– Length: 175cm for drop bars, 150cm for time trial and track bars.
