For the second time in a row the Russian Team Katusha won the general classification of the Tour des Fjords. Today Katusha’s leader Alexander Kristoff took the double win – he won the 5th and last stage as well as the final overall classification of the race.
In Sunday's 171 kilometer long fifth and final stage of Tour de Fjords from Risavika to Stavanger, everyone expected a bunch sprint decision but a certain Tinkoff-Saxo became very close of taking it all.
The victory of Alexander Kristoff at the 4th stage of the Tour des Fjords in Norway became the 10th success of the Russian Team Katusha in the 2014. In the final sprint from the leading group Alexander Kristoff was the strongest rider, outsprinting the overall leader Magnus Cort Nielsen from Cult Energy Vital Water and Sondre Holst Enger from Team Sparebanken.
In Tour des Fjords, Tinkoff-Saxo’s faced the hardest and 163 kilometer long third stage in the beautiful Norwegian landscape and the riders were all set to make a difference in the mountainous terrain between Hjelmeland and Forsand.

The Belkin Pro Cycling Team was unlucky on the second day of the Tour des Fjords in Forsand. The team ended up with two seconds places, in both the morning stage and the team time trial they just missed out on the win.
Another great victory for Katusha Team in the Norwegian competition “Tour des Fjords”: after yesterday's triumph by Sergey Chernetckii, today Alexander Kristoff proved to be the fastest in the massive sprint that decided the second stage, 103 km long from Hjelmeland to Forsand.
Great win for Sergey Chernetckii in the first stage of "Tour des Fjords", an UCI Europe Tour Norwegian competition, 2.1 category, at its first edition: the young Russian rider defeated the other riders in the breakaway and was able to wear the first leader's jersey of this race. With the ongoing Volta a Portugal, Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung will start Tour des Fjords motivated by the team’s performance in the Portuguese race. New to the racing calendar, the Norwegian Tour Des Fjords (UCI 2.1) takes place from 16 – 18 August.
The Belkin Pro Cycling Team will travel to Norway for the third time this year. After the Glava Tour of Norway in May and the Arctic Race of Norway earlier this month, Belkin races the Tour des Fjords this weekend. Sports Director Jan Boven saw the team riding offensively in both races and wants to do the exact thing with the men he has at his disposal from Friday to Sunday.
