Clasica Ciclista San Sebastian, Tour de Pologne. Omega Pharma - Quick-Step Cycling Team has announced the selections that will participate in Clasica Ciclista San Sebastian, a 232km race on July 27th, and Tour de Pologne, a 1,226km race from July 27th until August 3rd.
Since 1922 Spain has played host to the Prueba Villafranca-Ordiziako Klasika – a demanding one day race that quickly follows on the heels of the Tour de France. Always held on July 25, many riders opting to race in Spain have just finished the Tour several days prior. In Spanish cycling, Villafranca has become quite famous for drawing Tour names to the Basque Country.
World road champion Philippe Gilbert and dual stage winner and overall Tour de Wallonie champion Greg Van Avermaet headline the BMC Racing Team's roster for Saturday's Clasica San Sebastian.
The Belkin Pro Cycling Team races the Clásica de San Sebastián with a highly motivated Juan Manuel Gárate. According to Sports Director Jan Boven, the Spaniard rides the one-day classic "to step up his game a bit." Gárate will try to get the jump on the team's rivals and help leaders Robert Gesink, Paul Martens, Bauke Mollema and Tom-Jelte Slagter.
