Rider Interview: "I'm not a replacement for Cavendish because I am myself." That is what Marcel Kittel had to say when asked about there being any pressure coming to Etixx - Quick-Step after Mark Cavendish. The big German had much to talk about at his Spanish training camp: Sprinting, lead-outs, Tom Boonen, Classics, hair and washing dishes.
Interview: Earlier in January, Marcel Kittel, the top sprinter from the 2013 Tour de France was training with his Giant-Shimano team in Spain, so our local man; Alastair went to find out what made the big German tick. What he found was a big sprinter full of confidence, humor and lots of interesting things to say.
Race Report: Stage 12 was a long prelude to a sprint fest in the town of Tours and as predicted crashes played their part in the outcome but in the end two of the fastest men in the peloton came together for a close tussle. Yet again a German rider crossed the line first.
Race Report: Today was always going to be one for the sprinters and the fast-men didn’t disappoint with the top four; Kittel, Greipel, Cavendish and Sagan fighting it out on the streets of Saint Malo. It wasn’t pretty, but it’s the job of the sprinters to cross that line first, however they manage it!
