    Lotto Soudal and Sanas have extended their partnership. Since 2015, Sanas has been supplying the team with food supplements. As of 2017, Sanas will supply the Lotto Soudal riders with more types of products, like gels, bars and isotonic drinks.

    Three women will join the Lotto Soudal Ladies team next year. The Belgians Annelies Dom (30) and Kaat Van der Meulen (21) make the transfer from the Lensworld – Zannata team. The Dutch rider Puck Moonen (20) is now riding for Autoglas Wetteren.

    The last stage of the Lotto Belgium Tour on Friday 9 September, with finish on the Vesten in Geraardsbergen, was the last race of Lieselot Decroix as a cyclist. It isn’t a final goodbye to cycling though, she will be involved in the sport in several ways.

    This week there are three one-day races scheduled in Flanders and Wallonia. The first one is the Grand Prix de Wallonie on Wednesday September 14 with the finish at the top of the Citadelle de Namur.

    This weekend the Tour of Britain starts, an eight-day Europe Tour race scheduled from Sunday 4 till Sunday 11 September. The teams can line up six riders. Lotto Soudal is counting on German champion André Greipel and Tony Gallopin to set results.

    On August 28, the Bretagne Classic Ouest-France takes place, the former GP Plouay. The organisation of the race wants to highlight the entire region. However, the start and finish of the race is still in Plouay where the riders also cover a local lap.

    Next Sunday the WorldTour peloton will be racing in Germany at the Hamburg Cyclassics, a race which was organised for the first time twenty years ago. One of the riders on the start list is German champion André Greipel, who won the race last year.

    Yesterday the women’s road race was scheduled at the Olympic Games in Rio. Six riders from the Lotto Soudal Ladies team were selected for their country. Just like the men’s race it became a thrilling finale, unfortunately overshadowed by a severe crash of Annemiek van Vleuten. At the end the Dutch rider Anna van der Breggen could put on the gold medal at Copacabana Beach.

    Tomorrow the Olympic Games officially begin with the opening ceremony at the Maracaña stadium in Rio de Janeiro. The men’s road race is scheduled only one day later. Tim Wellens is part of the Belgian team together with Laurens De Plus, Philippe Gilbert, Serge Pauwels and Greg Van Avermaet.

    On Sunday André Greipel won the unofficial World Championships for sprinters on the legendary Champs-Elysées and this for the second year in a row. It was the first stage win for the German this Tour, the second one for Lotto Soudal.
