Alex Dowsett has set a new hour record of 52.937km today from 1 to 2pm in the National Cycling Centre in Manchester, smashing Rohan Dennis former record of 52.491km that had been achieved on 8 February 2015 at the Velodrome Suisse, Grenchen, Switzerland.

At this event, the dream of every road biker is sure to come true: To cross the entire width of the Alps in one day. From Sonthofen in the Allgäu region to Landeck in Tyrol and then to Sulden in the Vinschgau valley, from Germany to Austria and then to Italy. The ride offers participants no less than 252 kilometers/157 miles and 6,078 meters/19,941 feet altitude difference.
