Omega Pharma – Quick-Step Cycling Team has announced the selection that will participate in 2014 Brabantse Pijl, a 203 kilometer race to launch the second part of Spring Classics season, on Wednesday.
The Russian WorldTour Team Katusha will start the coming days in two one-day races in Belgium and France.
The cobblestone classics are over. Now it's up to the climbers in the peloton. With the Brabantse Pijl on Wednesday the second part of the cycling spring starts. The Brabantse Pijl starts in Leuven and finishes in Overijse after 203 kilometers. First the riders get 133 kilometers with eleven hills. The most known hills of that part are no doubt the Bruine Put and Alsemberg.
After weeks of racing on the flatlands and cobbles of northern Europe, the peloton now heads south to the hills and the first race on the agenda is De Brabantse Pijl.
The biggest fixtures of the first half of the season are getting close for Team Colombia, and after the joy for the National title won by Miguel Angel Rubiano, the Escarabajos are headed to Belgium for a “dry run” of the two big Ardennes Classics waiting for them a week later – Fleche Wallonne and Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
