    André Greipel underwent surgery in the hospital of Herentals last night for the injuries he incurred in Ghent-Wevelgem. Doctor Toon Claes replaced the torn ligaments between shoulder and collarbone and fixed a little plate to it. The operation went smoothly. The German spent the night in hospital and after a check-up he could go home this afternoon.

    After his crash in the final of Ghent-Wevelgem André Greipel immediately went to the hospital this evening. A third degree AC luxation of the collarbone was the conclusion after the examination. Because of the crash the collarbone was dislocated and both ligaments between collarbone and shoulder have been completely pulled off.

    Race Report: Today was always going to be one for the sprinters and the fast-men didn’t disappoint with the top four; Kittel, Greipel, Cavendish and Sagan fighting it out on the streets of Saint Malo. It wasn’t pretty, but it’s the job of the sprinters to cross that line first, however they manage it!

    Race Report: The road to Montpellier might have been flat but with strong crosswinds and loads of street furniture on the agenda this stage was never going to be easy. In the end it came down to another battle of the fastmen but not before there were numerous crashes and incidents en route.

    Tomorrow (Wednesday) the five days Ster ZLM Toer starts with a prologue of 8 kilometers in the streets of Goes. The third stage of this Dutch race from the Europe Tour takes place in Belgium. The start will be given in Verviers and the finish is in Jalhay. In this feisty stage Le Rosier and La Redoute are two of the hills that will be waiting for the riders. The day before they have to cover some famous Dutch hills like the Cauberg and Bemelerberg, these are all in the first half of the race. That’s why there are possibly three chances for a bunch sprint.

    André Greipel and Lotto Belisol have extended their agreement for two seasons. The fast German joined the team in 2011 and both parties are very satisfied about the cooperation, hence the new agreement. Since he arrived at the team he took 44 victories; he won ten of those this year, the Ronde van Zeeland Seaports being the most recent one. The biggest wins are of course the four stages in the Tour de France.

    Tomorrow (Wednesday) the Tour of Belgium starts, which ends on Sunday 26th of May. In this race, part of the Europe Tour, we will use the new Lotto Belisol team bus for the first time. André Greipel and Jürgen Roelandts are two of the riders that will be drove around in this bus. They are the two leaders of the team the next five days. The first stage between Lochristi and Knokke-Heist is cut out for sprinters, André’s train already rehearsed in the Tour de Picardie and will now have to lead the Gorilla to the victory. Last year Greipel won three stages in this race.
