Roadside Report: The Team BMC & Bora-Argon18 press conferences are contrasts, that would probably be an ideal situation for an aging party king – the day starts off early in what resembles a nightclub, and ends a hundred feet up in the air with some hi-tech gourmet cooking. Not my regular Friday … but then, it's a long time since I could ever dream about calling myself a nightclub god.

Roadside Report: We could just go and get all the same pictures as everyone else today, but as we're in Utrecht for the first time, let's have a look around instead. Not the smartest idea as the mercury soared, but sometimes you've got to hurt a little to live a little, to appreciate what's around you.

A hugely successful Aviva Women's Tour rolled to a high-speed and tightly-fought finish in Hemel Hempstead last Sunday, and Gord was there to check out the happenings on stages 3 to 5. It was an experience that seemed to transport people back a little, to the era before the men's Tour de France got so massive.

    59e Royal Smilde Olympias Tour 2011 - stage 1

The first part of our bike racing anatomy series took us from the stress of the roll out through to the initial breakaway getting away and the peloton settling in for possibly a long day of cat and mouse. Today we look at how the pack decides to let the break go or not, or what happens if a catch is made...

    15-park-prs-25

Park Tool has been the industry standard for bike tools and stands for a very long time and for a darn good reason. You’re hard pressed to hit a shop without their stuff doing the daily duties. Their PRS-25 Team Issue stand is an impossible combination of shop-worthy clamp and great stability with the unlikely sidekick of light weight portability…

Some say the Tour isn't the Tour without the l'Alpe d'Huez, and anyone who's been there will tell you it's the ONLY place to be when the race comes through. L'Alpe returns again this year and PEZ's Ed Hood knows the 21 bends better than most - here's what race fans should expect...

    divo-fountain650

July is a month like no other in cycling, and with the Tour but one week away, it's natural for one's thoughts to cast back to last year. I returned to 'la grand boucle' for the first time in years, and discovered the French Alsace and some amazing roads while test riding the DIVO ST. Twelve months later the race promises the strongest line up of competitors in years, but I also wondered how things have progressed at the DIVO bike company.

    tdf11-alpe-650

The 2015 Tour de France will not be crossing the Col du Galibier, normally the highest point of the French Grand Tour, on its way to l'Alpe d'Huez on stage 20. All this due to a landslide which has damaged the Chambon tunnel. So what better time to have a look back at one of Ed Hood's many Alpe visits.

Ride Mount Everest? That sounds crazy, but think about it; find a local hill and ride up it so many times to equal the height of the Worlds highest peak. Lee Rodgers is about to tackle 'Everesting' and gives us the Lowdown on the daunting task of climbing 8,848 meters in one day.
