    proviz-360-large

The Proviz Reflect 360 jacket uses a fabric that's as close as I’ve ever been to thinking something might be too visible at night… Oh, and the rest of the details that allow this swatch of material to be considered a jacket are not bad either… And we get their Nightrider Pack cover as well.

    50th Amstel Gold Race 2015

Race Report: Limburg; the sun beaming down, tree blossoms gleaming white, fiercely green grass and a sequence of knife-edge climbs that cut riders to the quick. The Amstel Gold Race is as good to look at as it is hard to ride. A war of attrition hammered out across a picture-postcard, spring landscape.

    amstel07-villa650

This Saturday in Valkenburg Holland runs maybe the largest cyclo-sportif event associated with any European Classic – the Amstel Gold Cylcosportif. I was lucky enough to join the 18,000 plus throng, and it was quite a day.

    lungomare-hotelnight650

As part of my self-appointed mission to discover and share with PEZ Fans the best riding destinations in Italy, I've parlayed 10 years of chasing the Giro d'Italia and its countless hotel nights into a 'reasonable' catalog of travel knowledge. Some hotels I look forward to visiting again, but I also look forward to new discoveries each May. The Hotel Lungomare in Cesenatico is one such hotel.

The cobbles are behind us as we move onto the hilly Classics and first up is the Amstel Gold Race. Yes, Holland is mostly flat, but try riding up the Cauberg and say that's not a hill. Our Classics expert, Ed Hood, gives us the benefit of his Amstel experience - the race and the golden liquid.

    Paris-Roubaix 2015

There can only be one subject for today's Lowdown: The Hell that is Paris-Roubaix. Sagan and Wiggins also come under the microscope; good and bad, but the beauty of L'enfer du Nord is the winner.

    roubaix15mm-kristoff-650

Our man Mark was introduced to the cobbles of Flanders last week by Velo Classic Tours, riding the roads of Wevelgem, Scheldeprijs and De Ronde. To finish him off he tackled the Hell of the North and those murderous tracks to Roubaix, but he still had time for rider watching at the sign-on in Compiégne.

Top Ride: The culmination of my visit to Holy Week was the long anticipated, much feared, and never completed ride across the parcours of Paris-Roubaix. Finally I learned what it was like to battle the toughest roads in northern France and earn my own lap of honour at the Roubaix velodrome.

Castelli's new Free Aero Race Bibshort has been redesigned from the bottom up, inside out, and top down, and back to front -  it's a brand new bibshort named after their best selling bibshort ever. Early Spring here at PEZ HQ means I've logged a few good rides in 'em and they've impressed enough to warrant a stand alone review.

    Kristoff650

As part of his continued Spring Classics trip with Velo Classic Tours our man Mark McGhee has been out riding the Belgian cobbles that included the Gent-Wevelgem parcours and its famous bergs whilst being followed around by pro photographers on motorbikes, been up close to the pros at the Scheldepris race and hung out in VIP comfort in between. Life's tough as Paris Roubaix approaches!
