Bart De Clercq is one of the nine Lotto Belisol riders that are selected for the upcoming Tour de France. He’s the only debutant in the team. The nearly 27-year-old rider started his pro career in 2011 at our team and that year he immediately won a stage in the Giro: the 7th stage with finish on the Montevergine di Mercogliano. Last year he participated in the Giro again and he rode the Vuelta for the first time, he became 17th in the GC.
Past Saturday, on the eve of the opening stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné, Jurgen Van den Broeck took time to chat with the press. He looked forward to his big goal: the Tour de France. The Dauphiné is a last test. If he can win a stage in this race, like two years ago, he will definitely grab that chance. Considering the most toughest part of the 100th Tour lies in the third week, he wants to be in top condition later than usual.
Past Saturday hundreds of people came to Circuit Zolder for the first Lotto Belisol fan day. The sun was shining all day long. Many had brought their bike and rode on the four kilometer long circuit. Of course everyone could meet our riders and staff. A visit to the team bus was possible and one could also admire the riders’ bikes.
On the Lotto Belisol fan day last Saturday at Circuit Zolder Jurgen Van den Broeck talked to the press. The man from Morkhoven was very relaxed, he just had one week of complete rest for the first since a long time, sports director Herman Frison had assisted on that. Van den Broeck made a round-up of his season so far and talked about his plans for the further build-up to the Tour, which starts Saturday 29th of June on the French island Corsica. Yesterday Jurgen left for the Sierra Nevada for a new training camp.
