The Alpha jacket is Castelli's smart take on an old problem - cold weather protection for cycling. It's design combines a wind & water repellent outer layer with a breathable vest-like inner layer that could very well be the way to the future - here's the PEZ review.
Verge Sport - makers of custom technical cycling apparel since 1999 are a brand who's profile might be a lot higher if they sponsored a Pro Tour team, but making and delivering pro tour level kit for local teams and riders suits them just fine.
We're gettin' down to the bottom of our Interbike 2015 coverage but there's still plenty drool over, like Alé Bikewear, Cinelli bikes, Cadence Collection clothing, Devinci cycles, and Scott's Addict Gravel bike and Premium Road Shoe.
Castelli's new Free Aero Race Bibshort has been redesigned from the bottom up, inside out, and top down, and back to front - it's a brand new bibshort named after their best selling bibshort ever. Early Spring here at PEZ HQ means I've logged a few good rides in 'em and they've impressed enough to warrant a stand alone review.
The World's didn't quite go as planned for the almighty Squadra Azzuro in Ponferrada, but they did have one of the best looking, and fastest team kits at the race - the Castelli Sanremo 3.0 Speed Suit in custom Italian blue livery - very nice indeed.
One look at the modern day pro peloton shows an abundance of skinsuits being used during standard road stages. What was unthinkable just a few years ago is now commonplace as riders look for the latest edge in aerodynamics and comfort. I recently put Verge's mid priced Triumph Carrera road/criterium skinsuit, through a long range test with some surprising results.
If you haven't noticed, Bellwether Clothing is back, and their newest top-line cycling jersey & bibshorts are worth noticing. A resurgence in their R&D raised our eyebrows a couple years back and after some solid miles in their Optime kit, we remain impressed.
As winter hangs on across much of the 49th parallel, DeFeet's Thermeator socks and Assos' Skinfoil Ls baselayer make good sense for a lot of rides ahead. I've had both on test through the winter, so here's my long term review...
Performance cycling jackets have come a long way in recent years, and Capo's HiVis super reflective jacket, Sugoi's RSE NeoShell rain jacket, and Sportful's Hot Pack Ultralight Jacket offer three distinct options for riding when the sun ain't shining.
You might know the Club Ride brand from their years of making the mtb crew look better than a lot guys will admit. We first saw them back at Interbike, and the first test samples have landed here at PEZ HQ.
Castelli offers one of the largest selections of riding gear around – with something for every temp and riding condition. I’ve spent the last few weeks testing gear from the winter range: the Espresso Due & Pazzo jackets, Polare bib tight, Colpo long-sleeve jersey, merino wool long-sleeve base, Diluvio shoe covers, Risvolto thermal cap, and Meccanico wool sweater.
PEZ reviews Bellwether Forma cycling bibshorts, Elite CS line Phase jersey and the Cadence line’s Retro cycling top. Cycle clothing tech has arguably become the tightest game in town (competition, not fit...) Bellwether have decided to play harder and a brand once easily dismissed by Pez have given us a surprise.
