After three days of racing in England, the Tour headed to France with a stage from Le Touquet to Lille. With only two short climbs of fourth category on the route the stage looked like an new opportunity for sprinters. The first stage on French soil didn’t go smoothly for Lotto Belisol, as three riders crashed. Greg Henderson was forced to abandon.

Louis Vervaeke has come over from the U23 team to the pro team of Lotto Belisol. The 20-year-old from Oudenaarde is the 27th rider. Two weekends ago he conquered the overall victory at the Tour des Pays de Savoie, after the win in the final stage to Plateau des Glières.

Next week it's finally time! Then it's the cobblestone stage in the Tour de France: Ypres – Arenberg Porte du Hainaut (155.5 km). This fifth stage, of which 54 kilometers are on Belgian soil, promises to be spectacular. On the route are 15.4 kilometers of cobblestones, divided over nine sectors from Paris-Roubaix. The GC riders will have to be alert not to lose any time.
Now the national championships are behind us the peloton gets ready for the Tour de France. The 101st edition consists of 21 stages. There are five summit finishes, one individual time trial and one cobblestone stage. The riders will start on Saturday the 5th of July in Leeds, England, and will arrive on the famous Champs-Elysées in Paris after 3.664 kilometers.
Ridley Bikes, partner of Lotto Belisol, has given a retro look to the Noah FAST and Helium SL of the Lotto Belisol riders, which perfectly matches the team's outfit. The frame of the new bikes is red and the Belgian flag is added to it. On the top tube one can see ride your dream, referring to the team slogan live your dream. The well-known Ridley Bikes font was also changed to better suit the retro design.
Three Lotto Belisol riders won't appear at the start of the Belgian championship on Sunday.
Sunday at about half past eleven 130 riders will stand at the start of the Belgian championship in Wielsbeke, West-Flanders. After 250.2 kilometers, or eighteen laps of 13.9 kilometers, we will know who's the successor of Stijn Devolder and can wear the Belgian tricolour for one year.

The Ster ZLM Toer starts tomorrow with a flat prologue of 7 kilometers in Bladel, a town in the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant. This five-day stage race of the Europe Tour ends on Sunday 22nd of June.
The WorldTour peloton will be active on two fronts this weekend, while it are the last stages in the Critérium du Dauphiné the Tour de Suisse begins. This stage race runs from Saturday the 14th of June until Sunday the 22nd of June. Five riders in the Lotto Belisol selection have participated in the Giro, among them Maxime Monfort.

Tomorrow the Baloise Belgium Tour will start, the former Tour of Belgium. It's a stage race of five days, part of the Europe Tour. The first two stages are suited for a bunch sprint, on Friday there's a time trial scheduled and the last two days the peloton rides in Wallonie where the riders have to race on hilly terrain.
At the beginning of the final Giro week Maxime Monfort is seventeenth in the general classification. Last Wednesday the leader of the Lotto Belisol team crashed in the stage to Savona. The consequences of it hindered him in the following days. In this last week the riders have to cover among other three mountain stages and a climb time trial. We talked to Maxime on this third rest day and he is ready to fight.
The riders in the Giro can enjoy a second rest day. Lotto Belisol has already been active in this race. The team was represented in a long break four times and Tim Wellens battled in a select front group on Thursday and took the second place on the final climb to Montecassino.
Tomorrow Adam Hansen stands at the start of the Giro for the sixth time. It will be his eighth Grand Tour in a row. In the Tour of Turkey the Australian rider made a good impression with a seventh and ninth place in two mountain stages, which led him to the ninth place in GC. That's also the place he finished on in the Tour Down Under at the beginning of the season. Then he also won the KOM jersey.
Friday the Giro d'Italia starts, the first Grand Tour of the season. This year the Giro caravan makes a trip to Northern-Ireland and Ireland. Belfast is the place to start the 97th edition. A team time trial of just over 21 kilometers will open the Italian stage race. Next the riders get two flat stages in (Northern-)Ireland. On Monday the 12th of May there's a first rest day, then the peloton takes the plane to Italy.
