The Russian WorldTour Team Katusha announces the signing of an agreement with Norwegian rider Sven Erik Bystrøm, 22. The agreement with the rider, which is his first professional contract, was signed for two years.
The Russian WorldTour Team Katusha starts for the first time in its history in the 2.1 stage race Tour of Slovenia, which will be held from June 19th until June 22nd.
Making it two wins in two days for Katusha Team, Simon Špilak attacked from his breakaway on the Côte de Laffrey and tucked into his time trial position to race 20 kilometers solo into La Mure and claim victory on stage 5. After yesterday’s inspiring win by Iurii Trofimov, Špilak (27) saw a chance of his own to earn his second win of the season, the previous victory coming in the Tour de Romandie last April for the Slovenian rider.
For the second time in a row the Russian Team Katusha won the general classification of the Tour des Fjords. Today Katusha’s leader Alexander Kristoff took the double win – he won the 5th and last stage as well as the final overall classification of the race.
The victory of Alexander Kristoff at the 4th stage of the Tour des Fjords in Norway became the 10th success of the Russian Team Katusha in the 2014. In the final sprint from the leading group Alexander Kristoff was the strongest rider, outsprinting the overall leader Magnus Cort Nielsen from Cult Energy Vital Water and Sondre Holst Enger from Team Sparebanken.
Perfect teamwork from all of Katusha’s riders became a key point in the team’s success at the second stage of the Tour des Fjords in Norway: getting a strong support from teammates, Alexander Kristoff took a nice victory in the bunch sprint.
The Russian WorldTour Team Katusha starts the coming days in two stage races, the Bayern Rundfahrt (Germany, UCI 2.HC) and the Tour des Fjords (Norway, UCI 2.1). Both races will be held simultaneously from May 28th until June 1st.

Team Katusha is happy to announce a partnership with “Sencillo Bikes Internacional”, a Spanish company specializing in bicycle accessories. Since the pre-season, the team riders have been using the "Sencillo" mudguards in their training sessions. When placed on the saddle, it prevents the rider’s rear and back from getting wet from the water that spits out the rear wheel in wet conditions.
The Russian WorldTour Team Katusha will start in the UCI 1.1 race Garmin Velothon Berlin, which will be held on Sunday, May 18th, in Germany.
Because of a massive crash at ten kilometers from the finish in Cassino at the Giro d’Italia, three Katusha riders had to abandon the race. Angel Vicioso and Giampaolo Caruso finished the stage in the ambulance. Joaquim Rodriguez finished the race but fractures, revealed later in the Santa Scolastica Hospital of Cassino, made an end of his race, too.

One of the fastest cycling sprinters on Earth, double World Championships medalist and the European sprint champion visited Italy to support the riders of RusVelo road squads and to have a closer look at international road racing in general.
RusVelo riders Sergey Lagutin and Ilnur Zakarin came in first and second in the opening stage of GP of Sochi. The 185 roller-coaster course brought about a serious selection, resulting in an escape of seven riders, three of them in RusVelo colors.
