The 38th edition gets started with Riva-Arco Team Time Trial: plenty of climbs and of hopes for a top-class field, including two former Tour de France winners.
A few weeks are left, and it will be Giro d’Italia again for Team Colombia, but it’s still too early to pack luggage for Northern Ireland. Ahead of Belfast, more important fixtures expect Claudio Corti’s riders – way too prestigious to be a mere setup to the first Grand Tour of the season.

The event, a Giro d’Italia in miniature, has been officially unveiled today in Trento.

Besides San Giacomo di Brentonico and Roncone ascents, the organizers picked up Charly Gaul’s legendary mountain to celebrate Aldo Moser’s 80th birthday.
2011 Tour de France winner will be back on Trentino’s roads to prepare a new assault at the “maglia rosa”. After Team Sky’s Richie Porte an another Australian big name will be at the start of Giro del Trentino.

After Punta Veleno and Sega di Ala, GS Alto Garda organizers discovered another unknown ascent: San Giacomo climb will provide an exciting 11,5 Km battlefield with gradients over 10%.
Once Trento Province board has been renewed, the organizers are in process to speed up the course’s fine tuning: Riva del Garda–Arco will be the TTT opening stage, same as in 2012. Australian Richie Porte (Team Sky) stands out among the main protagonists meanwhile.
In an edition looking destined to be remembered for long, ended on April 19th with an outstanding win by Vincenzo Nibali, the 37th Giro del Trentino enjoyed a huge media success. The race was watched by about 6 million people in Europe alone over 27 hours of TV coverage (live and delayed) provided by Raisport and Eurosport. Other area’s figures will become available soon.
