“We’re proud to present ourselves once again in our own country. This year, the race in Hamburg fits very well into the second half of the season for our classics riders. The guys have an ambitious program in August, and the Cyclassics will be the highlight. After making a good showing last year as breakaway riders and finishing in the Top 20, we intend to take it one step farther this year,” says Ralph Denk, Team Manager for Team NetApp-Endura, referring to the invitation.
The 18th edition of the Hamburg Cyclassics will be held on 25 August. Over a course of 247 kilometers, the peloton will have to cover the familiar, 15% incline up the Waseberg four times, crossing the finish line three times.
The Hamburg Cyclassics are already the ninth WorldTour race for which the team has secured a wildcard. This year’s Vuelta a España, which begins the same weekend as the Hamburg Cyclassics, is considered a milestone for Team NetApp-Endura.
“This year, we’re offering our riders nearly 50 racing days in the first division. The wildcards are proof that our team has developed successfully. Talented riders have to measure up to the best riders at the best races in order to develop themselves further. And our riders know that they have to take advantage of the opportunities that we’re opening up for them with these races,” Denk adds.
Team NetApp-Endura has had a successful first half of the season. With six wins and nine podium spots, the team is currently in eighth place in the standings in Europe. Jan Barta, the team’s most successful rider, ranks fifth on the UCI Europe Tour.
