Dear Readers - I've just lined up Italian national team boss Franco Ballerini for another of my famous "Slam-Dunc" interviews! We talked at the ROI Bikes luncheon last week, and he loved the idea of answering your questions... So what would you like to ask?

The first team training camps have begun, with the focus being about getting to know the new guys, team bonding, a bit of fun. CSC’s Andrea Peron just returned from his CSC training camp in Lanzarote, reportedly complaining of a cold! Perhaps some “less perilous” activities are needed, so Dunc Steele offers his own list of activities for the “ideal” training camp.

Our sources inside the CSC team bus have reported that Tyler Hamilton has suffered a broken shoulder in a crash at the finish of today's 1st stage of the Tour de France. We don't know how bad it is yet, but it' unlikely hel'll be able to continue - even if he's proven that it takes more than a broken bone to keep him off the podium (Giro '02- 2nd overall). We'll keep you posted as news arrives.

THAT German...Jan Ullrich! After nearly 2 weeks of racing we have 3 men in the first 3 positions within one minute of each other. What does all this mean...means as I said last week, we have one hell of a race on our hands!!!

On Sunday, July 20, PEZ Insider Andrea Peron finished 4th on the tough stage to Loudenville, having a go to attack Simoni, Virenque and Dufaux in the final meters. Thanks to the French internet, this story did not arrive in time for posting, but Dunc talked with Andrea after the stage about the dya, and the news from the bunch. As usual from Dunc, it's a great read, so even if a bit late - here it is...

This is the first of of a series of whispers from inside the Peleton at this year's Tour de France. Our inside man is Andrea Peron, riding his 7th TDF in support of CSC's leader Tyler Hamilton. Andrea is also Armstrong's ex-team mate and "ex-gregario" to Abraham Olano in his best years. He is also an Olympic Silver medalist (100km Team Time Trial). I spoke to Andrea the other day when CSC was checking out the TDF team time trail course...

Andrea Peron whispers, Dunc talks, Tyler gives us a nod and a wink and Riis just smiles. This was my evening I spent with Andrea Peron and his team CSC after the finish in Morzine and the night before the great Alp d'Huez stage.

If Milan-Sanremo is any indication, all of Italian cycling could be in dire need of a change. As Duncan Steele observed over the weekend of La Primavera, most of the fans were “oldtimers”, while young cycling fans were scarce. All this and a dose of his usual scuttlebut from our man in Milan…

After a long awaited win for Cipollini at this year's Giro, the question started to fly around that maybe he wasn't "in forma", had lost his sprint, his power, was too old and maybe has really had enough of cycling after a few years of moaning. Was all this really true or was it just that Petacchi was too good and hit his moment?
