Trek Factory Racing Partners with Samsung
logotrekfrt Global technology leader signs partnership deal with leading global cycling team

Trek Factory Racing has partnered with global technology leader Samsung. Trek and Samsung will work closely together to identify opportunities and challenges faced by the Trek Factory Racing Team, and will integrate Samsung mobile devices into the team training to improve capabilities. The feedback from the cycling team will also be reflected in Samsung’s future product development, and continue to enhance the mobile product experience.

Samsung will provide the team, coaches and staff with Samsung mobile devices, including the Galaxy S5, Gear portfolio (Gear, Gear 2, Gear Fit) and Galaxy Tab device to advance the team’s training efforts and communication capabilities.

As a team of riders from 17 countries with squads competing on up to three continents simultaneously, Trek Factory Racing will collaborate with Samsung to identify the challenges and opportunities of communication. And with the resources of Samsung devices, the riders and staff will be empowered to connect with their global fanbase like never before.

“The information that we receive from the integration of Samsung’s technology is going to play a big role in the development of our athletes and their training,” said Trek Factory Racing General Manager Luca Guercelina. “This is a global team that competes around the world with riders of numerous nationalities, so having a technology partner that can bring all of the data together and help us easily make use of it is really important.”

Through Samsung mobile devices’ fitness and healthcare features, Samsung, together with Trek, aims to enrich sport experiences for racers and casual cyclists to support their performance and health, and also enable them to enjoy sport in their daily lives.

“Fitness and wellness are such an important part of people’s lives, and Samsung is continuously focused on integrating meaningful features into our smart mobile devices,” said Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing, IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. “Through our collaboration with Trek, we will be able to better understand the needs of cyclists to enhance their interaction with mobile devices and enable athletes and fans to stay connected and active in their daily lives.”
The global partnership with Trek represents Samsung’s growing commitment to sport and efforts to help people stay fit and active through its cutting edge technologies.

“Samsung deepening their involvement in cycling is a big deal not only for Trek Factory Racing but for the sport itself,” said Trek’s Vice President of Product and Marketing Joe Vadeboncoeur. “The team is a great program for unique partnerships and we are looking forward to developing this and other brands’ future relationships with Trek Factory Racing.” Samsung and Trek will work together to explore opportunities to further bring technology into the sport, to support the active lifestyles of cyclists and maximize the excitement of sport and cycling for fans and spectators around the world.
