First pink week resume:
The Giro d’Italia is off and running and in the first week of the pink race the riders from the Sidi Sport stables figured right away as major players and especially winners. In fact, Sidi saw two magical doubles. Diego Ulissi, from the Lampre-Merida team, which is entirely branded by Sidi, made his mark in the 5th stage in Viggiano and in the 8th stage, on the uphill arrival at Montecopiolo. Meanwhile, Frenchman Nacer Bouhanni (FDJ) won the bunch sprint in the 4th and the 7th stages at Bari and Foligno respectively. Thanks to these two victories, Bouhanni is also wearing the red jersey for the special points classification in the Giro.
About fifty riders, or about a third of the pack in the Giro, are wearing Wire shoes, the top of the line in the Sidi Sport road cycling collection. For some of them, specifically for the Giro, Sidi has put the final touches on a special edition of the Wire shoe, for a look that is always attractive and impeccable. Just to drop a few names, this is the case of Rigobeto Uran (Omega Pharma), who is currently second in the general classification for the pink jersey, with an all-white Wire shoe featuring black detailing that matches perfectly with the colours of his jersey; or consider Holland’s Wilko Kelderman, wearing Wires with fluorescent green points colour-coordinated with his Team Belkin; and finally there is Samuel Sanchez (BMC), who gets a pair of gold Wire (in honour of his Olympic title) along with a pink vortice to celebrate the Giro.
The road to Trieste is still long and Sidi riders will surely get a lot of wins yet!
