Team Saxo-Tinkoff are entering the race with Roman Kreuziger, Nicholas Roche, Rafal Majka, Chris Anker Sørensen, Matteo Tosatto, Nicki Sørensen, Michael Mørkøv, Evgeny Petrov and Oliver Zaugg. It is a very varied route and it provides several opportunities for success, according to Team Saxo-Tinkoff DS, Fabrizio Guidi:
“We have a very competitive team that is well-suited for this type of parcours. I won’t preclude anything so every stage and the general classification are potential targets. We have a lot of confidence and we want to make an impact on the race and we’ll succeed when everyone respects the principles of this sport: humility and team work.”
Who is captain?
“Our natural leader is Roman but the door is open. We have three other competitive guys in super condition. They deserve an opportunity. I refer to Chris, Rafal and Nico. We will make the final decision during the race.
Can you say a few words about the line-up?
“Rafal, Chris, Nico and Roman are our mountain leaders but Oliver can also do really well. We think that the course allows us to start with more than one leader only. Anyway, we are ready and prepared to face every stressful situation as our most important weapon is the team spirit. Michael, Tosatto, Evgeny and Nicki will support the leader. Anyway, in a big tour everyone has to be ready to seize every opportunity there is to succeed,” concludes Team Saxo-Tinkoff DS, Fabrizio Guidi.
The main candidates for the overall win are Alejandro Valverde (Movistar), Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) and Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha).
