With four mountain stages and a 32 kilometers long and flat time trial on the menu at the week-long stage race, there will only be a few opportunities for the sprinters to shine in this year’s Dauphiné, but on the other hand the spectators will be able to enjoy the undoubtedly daily tension between the riders who’s running for the overall standings:
“We will be supporting Alberto all the way and we’re targeting a top result in the overall standings. Several of our riders have not raced now for a while so it is also a chance for us to refine the shape and to let the Tour riders have the opportunity of getting to know each other a bit better before it goes on in Corsica in a month’s time. Timmy (Duggan), Nicki (Sørensen) and Benji (Noval) are the ones to protect Alberto on the flat and windy sections while Chris Anker, Jesus (Hernandez), Michael (Rogers) and Sergio (Paulinho) are expected to support him on the climbs, “said Team Saxo-Tinkoff’s French sports director, Philippe Mauduit.
The race ends Sunday June 9th.
