RusVelo winner of three classifications of GP Udmurtskaya Pravda
logo rusvelo The oldest stage race in Russia, GP Udmurtskaya Pravda finished earlier today in Izhevsk, for the first time ever as a 2.2 international event. RusVelo defended its lead in three nominations as expected. Artur Ershov won the general classification, 39 seconds ahead of the teammate Sergey Klimov, with the Ukrainian Yuri Agarkov (ISD) 57 seconds down. Ivan Balykin won the green KOM jersey with 16 points; last but not least RusVelo took the team standings, just 2.20 clear of Team 21. The fifth stage was set on a hilly course and was shaped up by the strong side wind for the first 1.5 hours. An escape of two managed to ride away and stayed in front until the finish line, Evgeny Kovalev (Russian Helicopters) dominated in a sprint match against Anton Samokhvalov (Samara).

Summing up the five-day event RusVelo DS Alexander Efimkin said:
“We focused on keeping the jerseys and succeeded in doing it without too much stress. The team was fully in control, we let the escape go, as the riders out there posed no danger to our leaders and worked as an extra stabilizer of the race scenario. We are naturally happy with the Russian block of races, winning all four of those in which we took part. We’d like to thank the organizers for their efforts to meet the standards set for the international UCI events.”
