Sergey Honchar, DS: “Pre-season work on an individual basis is over, now it’s time for the riders and staff to get together and start a new phase focused on special training. We’ll hold an extensive testing series to check out the conditions of the guys; we’ll form three groups, that is: time trialists, climbers and sprinters, which will follow different workout strategies. Before the opening races of the season that will take place in mid-February we’ll hold yet another training camp, at high altitude in Trodos, Cyprus. We hope to get some important results from the word go, this year we don’t have any intention to use early season races as a warm-up.”
The training camp in Tuscany will continue until January 20.
Two track specialists, Alexander Serov and Artur Ershov, continue their work out sessions on the Krylatskoye velodrome in Moscow; female squad is training in St Petersburg for the winter track national championships, to be held at the end of January.
