Retül and Team MTN-Qhubeka join forces
logoMTN After seeing major results during the 2013 season, Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung is proud to officially join forces with Retül for 2014. Retül provides technology, tools and training to guide bike fitters in helping cyclists improve performance and comfort on their bikes.

Each athlete on the team has already been fitted to their Trek bicycle in December using Retül’s motion capture technology which records a rider’s position while he in motion, therefore creating the most realistic picture of the rider’s actual pedal strokes and body positions when out on the road. The motion picture technology makes up one part of Retül’s three foundations in the application of accurate, objective and comprehensive bike fit data. The other two being biomechanics assessed in 3D space and measurement accuracy.

“We are very excited to work with Team MTN-Qhubeka and empower the team with fit data and technology. At every level of cycling, a proper bike fit will help an athlete maximize performance. As cycling in Africa gains popularity, fit is key in helping riders be comfortable on their bikes and ultimately perform their best,” said Todd Carver, Chief Fit and Education Officer for Retul.

Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung’s Director of Health and Performance, Dr Carol Austin says the Colorado based company is the perfect addition to the team’s high performance department.

“Retül is the world leader in dynamic bike fitting. It provides fast, accurate and objective feedback and insights that allow our coaching and medical team to optimize each athlete’s setup. We can confidently and effectively address biomechanical issues and individualize each athlete’s bike component selection for performance and comfort. At our December training camp the high sensitivity of this technology was revealed as we assessed each athlete for optimal Speedplay pedal spindle length. Retül clearly demonstrated the biomechanical impact of the small variance (3mm) between each spindle length option and made the selection process simple. Beyond the bike fitting process, Zin bike reports clearly communicate setup specifications to our mechanics which enable’s their precision, effectiveness and success. We’re delighted to have Retül as a performance partner, it’s technology we rely on,” Dr Austin said.
