RusVelo rider Oxana Kozonchuck scored her first podium finish after the complicated injury sustained in January that took her more than three months to recover. The Russian rider set the third best time in the prologue of the 25th 2.2 Tour de Bretagne Feminin, which started in Pledran. One of the leading Italian riders Elisa Lingo-Borghini (Hitec Products) stopped the clock at 3.13.73 on a flat 2.3 km-long course. Her French teammate, last year’s GC winner Audry Cordon was 2nd, less than a second faster than Kozonchuk.
Oxana Kozonchuk said:
“That was exactly the type of a course I like, very technical, lots of turns. I sprinted out of every corner as though the finish line was right after it. It’s a very important result, which demonstrates that I got ahead after the forced stop. I’m very happy to find myself back on the podium, but it’s just the beginning, I hope that much more is to follow.”
