Successful day for Team Novo Nordisk and Changing Diabetes in China: The fourth stage of the Tour of China was a double rejoicing day for the world’s first all-diabetes professional cycling team. After the Spaniard Javier Megias ensured the decisive points for the best climber’s jersey in the first mountain classification, the Italian Andrea Peron demonstrated again his exceptional class in sprint by help of his team. After 101.7 km (63.2 m) with start and finish in Dujiangyan only centimeters were missing for the 24-year old Peron for the first seasonal win in the most tight final of the week. Instead it was the 4th place and the Ukrainian Maksym Averin won this stage of the Tour of China. This is the fourth top-ten placement for Team Novo Nordisk in a row. At the same time this success takes Peron to place three in the overall standings and the yellow jersey is still within reach.
Javier Megias secured the second special jersey Team Novo Nordisk in its debut season. The 29-year old will start the fifth stage, which will run 124.2 km (77.2 m) with start and finish in Chongqing Banan, in the dotted jersey. The only mountain classification of the day in which Megias will have to defend his jersey is already after 14.4 kilometers. Todays 4th stage could have been even better for Megias but a flat tire burnt up a lot of time and cost the contact to the leading group. A defect on the day after his birthday was bad luck for the Finn Joonas Henttala, who again was one of the strongest riders in the field. So he only rolled into the finish with the chasers. The good results of Team Novo Nordisk in Dujiangyan were again completed by Martijn Verschoor. The Dutch finished this stage as sprint pilot for Andrea Peron on place 13.
