New stage race, new win for RusVelo
logo rusvelo RusVelo rider Timofey Kritskiy won the opening stage of a new 2.2 international GP Udmartskaya Pravda stage race. He did an 18.9 km-long ITT in 21.19.33, with an average speed of more than 53 km/h, finishing 28 s ahead of Maxim Pokidov (Itera-Katusha) and 36 ahead of the teammate Artur Ershov. The race was actually born more than sixty years ago, but it is for the first time in its long history that it got such an upgrade.

Timofey Kritskiy said:
“I’m happy to have ended this lengthy winless period in this fashion. Time trial is my event, and normally the occasions on which we ride it are few and far between. Everything went well, from warm-up to course inspection. We had to fight through side wind, and there were some hills, but I used the heaviest gear more often than not. It was a good test before the Russian nationals in Tula on June 27. I feel also inspired by the good news of the change in technical regulations for the riders like me, who are taller than 190 cm. Now I will be able to make my position really ergonomic and pedal with maximum effectiveness.”
