Monte Grappa Cycling: Technical and Mechanical Assistance Outlined
logo_montegrappa The organizing committee for Monte Grappa Cycling really pays a lot of attention to its participants, since they want to guarantee the maximum safety on both routes (the long 114 km and the short 57.9 km) and allow everyone to finish the race in the best way possible.

The in-race assistance service will be guaranteed by four motorcycles that will follow the contestants all along the first and difficult climb that goes from Seren del Grappa to Forcelletto, the point in which the two routes will diverge into two different roads. After that, two motorcycles will follow the short route; one will stop halfway down and one in the village of Caupo, while the other two will follow the long route. To request assistance from the mobile units all you have to do is stop on the side of the road and raise a hand or call the telephone number that the organization will provide to all the participants along with their race packages.

Furthermore, for contestants on the long route, at the Romano d’Ezzelino roundabout there will be a fixed assistance point equipped with every necessity (wheels, inner-tubes, chains, tyre covers and assorted parts) to take care of flats as well as mechanical problems.

“The aim is to offer good coverage on both routes” says the staff from Monte Grappa Cycling. “Motorcycles are the perfect vehicles for providing assistance along the roads of the Monte Grappa, which are very narrow and curvy. The fixed assistance point has been strategically located at Romano d’Ezzelino, because the climb called Gen. Giardino per Campo Croce from Semonzo to Cima Grappa will be decisive for those who really want to win the race.”

The route will also be guarded by numerous public safety volunteers, and the sweep up car that will take care of picking up athletes who are in trouble and their bikes will have another mechanic on board.

Here below is a general presentation of the Monte Grappa Cycling.

The Monte Grappa Cycling is a challenging race for two-wheel lovers that on Sunday, September 7 will take cyclists and amateurs to face the up-hill climb of the Mount Grappa, tackled this year by the Giro d’Italia with an up-hill time trial.

The two routes proposed in this edition are extremely challenging: the long route of 114 km and the short one of 57,9 km. Both routes, starting and finishing in the town of Seren del Grappa (BL) will make you discover, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War, some of the most significant sites of this historic “mountain sacred to the country”, with suggestive passages.
