Lagutin holds on to top-5 in the final classification of Skoda Tour de Luxembourg
logo rusvelo RusVelo rider Sergey Lagutin finished ninth in the fourth and final stage of 2.HC Skoda Tour de Luxembourg and held on to the fifth position in the general standings. It was a hard race with a nervous finale; Andre Greipel (Lotto-Belisol) took yet another sprint win; home favorite Jean-Pierre Drucker (Wanty – Group Gobert) collected precious bonus seconds and jumped back on the podium, pushing off the Frenchman Rudy Mollard (Cofidis). Matti Breschel (Tinkoff-Saxo) defended his overall race lead. Yet another RusVelo rider Sergey Firsanov rode in a breakaway of the day that had a maximum gap of about five minutes.

RusVelo DS Sergey Ivanov summed up the race:
“To take fifth in a 2.HC race is a good line in every rider’s palmares; you shouldn’t forget about a neat sum of UCI points Sergey Lagutin collected in these five days. Sergey has a definite potential to aim higher. But what I also would like to focus on is the performance of RusVelo as a whole. The rode in a well-organized and confident way, and I see the result of their evolution as a stark contrast to what they looked like in the first Belgian races earlier this season. Their colleagues take them seriously now, and that’s an all-important thing you can’t put into points and figures”.
