Javier Megias conserves his position in the GC of USA Pro Challenge
logonovonordisk The Spanish rider Javier Megias from Team Novo Nordisk conserves his 17th place in the general classification of “America’s Toughest Professional Cycling Race” as he finished 28th in today’s queen stage. After 165.6k (102,9m) from Steamboat Springs to Beaver Creek, fourth stage of the USA Pro Challenge, Alexis Acevedo (Columbia, Team Jamis – Hagens Berman) took the stage win in a rainy uphill finish after he had attacked from the breakaway group of five riders. New leader of the general classification is the US-rider Tejay van Gaderen (Team BMC), who finished 2nd today. Megias, best rider of Team Novo Nordisk, the world’s first all-diabetes professional cycling team, is now of 3:54 minutes behind the current leader. “Today, we worked hard in the front to take control,” says Megias. “We tried for a good position in the climb.”

Tomorrow’s 5th stage of the USA Pro Challenge will be the uphill Individual Time Trail with 16,1km (10,0m) in Vail.
