Slipstream Sports today announced a new partner, The Island House Hotel; its first in the hospitality industry. As part of the 3.5 year partnership, the Island House logo will be prominently displayed on the helmets of the Garmin-Sharp riders, seen for the first time at the 2014 Tour de France.
“The Island House is a new project for our longtime supporter, Mark Holowesko. The Bahamas are an incredibly beautiful place and we’re proud to represent the newest luxury hotel on the islands,” said Jonathan Vaughters, CEO, Slipstream Sports and Team Garmin-Sharp.
The Island House is a 30-room boutique hotel and gathering space in western Nassau, which is scheduled to open in February 2015. The hotel is located in a prime residential and business area and in close proximity to the airport where it will serve residents, business and leisure travelers alike.
“We hope the hotel will be considered a guesthouse for the nearer communities, a cultural platform for the artistic community, and a luxury boutique hotel for our out of town guests, offering quality of experience and uniqueness with a distinctive Bahamian feel,” Holowesko said.
The Island House will be contemporary in its approach but will use the same traditional Bahamian features that has made Holowesko’s Mahogany House restaurant a success.
“We want it to feel like a natural extension of its context – integrated into the environment and an essential part of the island that surrounds it,” Holowesko said.
The hotel development will offer 6 rental apartments, two restaurants, a cafe, a spa, gym, movement studio for fitness classes, and a 48-seat theater. The versatile space will also host arts exhibitions, seminars and speaking events. Like The Island House itself, the cinema aims to attract and captivate resort guests and local culture buffs alike.
