Euskadi: Tour des Pays de Savoie
Logo_Euskadi The Euskadi team continues its French route on the Tour des Pays de Savoie.

The continental team Ciclista Euskadi Foundation faces its fifth consecutive tour in France. After racing in Paris-Arras, Tour de Gironde, Boucles de Mayenne and the Ronde de L’Oise, the squad led by Miguel Madariaga will participate in the Tour des Pays de Savoie, which takes place from 19 to 22 June. Gorka Gerrikagoitia has called: Miguel Minguez, Victor Etxeberria, Iturria Mikel, Pablo Lechuga, Haritz Orbe and Beñat Txoperena. A group of climbers for a tour which has four summit finishes and one individual time trial of 9.3 kilometres.

The 16th edition of the demanding alpine tour has confirmed the presence of 21 teams, including WorldTour squads: Katusha, Lotto Belisol, Belkin and Ag2r-La Mondiale. Before leaving, Gorka Gerrikagoitia said that “we go with riders best suited to the characteristics of the race. Barbero, Aristi, Aberasturi, Zuazubiskar and Larrinaga are taking a break while our best riders in the mountains have a great opportunity to show their condition,” he explains. When questioned on the objectives, the athletic director said that “we must aspire to a top ten both in general and to find some stage victory,” he summarized.

Thursday: St Michel de Maurienne – Valmeinier (124 kms, top finish, 2nd category)
Friday: Chambéry – Passy Plateau d’Assy (146 kms, top finish, 2nd category)
Saturday (1st sector): Morillon – Châtel (90 kms, a non-scoring end ledge)
Saturday: (2nd sector): Châtel – Châtel (9.3 kms, CRI)
Sunday: Bonneville – Plateau des Glieres (132 kms, high end, 1st category)
