Area Zero D’Amico is getting ready to make an important trip abroad. In the next few days the all-Italian continental team will be busy on the roads of the north in two important competitions. It all starts on Saturday, April 12th with the GP Pino Cerami in Belgium. The second race will be the Paris-Camembert in northern France on Tuesday, April 15th.
“For the guys this will mostly be a chance to gain experience in an international context and measure themselves against teams with top level riders” explains ds Massimo Codol. “We are in the period of the great northern classics and these two races have important names and histories. The roads of Belgium have always been a school for cycling. Neither of these two tests is particularly rough in altimetry, but the wind and the type of road surface is what makes them difficult, challenging and insidious. In the north every metre hides particular racing conditions. This is why I say that for the guys it will be an educational experience, a chance to grow and learn how to race in this context. The guys are all doing well, for this type of race I predict a sprinting arrival, perhaps by a limited group with a few riders. I can see Pasqualon doing well for us. He returned to racing at the Coppi & Bartali and he immediately stood out with two good placements, and then there are also Chinello and Giorni.”
“For our team these two races are important showcases for people to get to know us further beyond our national borders,” explains team manager Ivan De Paolis. “We will try to give it our all and make a good impression, as we have been doing up until now, anyway, and to provide exposure to the Area Zero project and our sponsors. In fact, after the GP Izola in Slovenia and the GP Lugano in Switzerland, this is our first real travelling race abroad, far away from Italy.”
