Turns out the timing was perfect too, as Doug was planning to build up a new bike this winter, in support of his recent ‘retirement’ from triathlon to allow him a little more time road racing.
Doug rides with the Boston Scientific Cycling club out of Boston, and although it may be a few miles away from his house in NC, it’s a club that couldn’t be closer to home. Boston Scientific makes things like pacemakers – the kind that keep your ticker ticking – and Doug’s wife not only uses one of these pacemakers herself – but is a sponsored rider of the team – and she just completed her first Ironman.
Impressive stuff – but we suspect Doug may be getting a little more attention himself when he shows up on his new Cervelo Soloist.
The contest may be done, but you can still buy your own Cervelo Soloist from R&A Cycles.
Congrats again, and thanks to everyone who entered, and to R&A Cycles for the awesome prize!
