If it works for the gang at Discovery Channel (the actual TV company, not the former cycling team), then it’s good enough for us here at PEZ. Since we’re on the off-season theme, Josh has decided to tackle some of his pet peeve off-season training myths and give his perspective. The truth or old-school bahooey? Read and decide for yourself.
Roadside Report: 255km of tough racing was on the agenda on Sunday and as always Ed Hood was there for every single moment from the warmup to the startline the finishline and then the post race reactions. Here's a look at his day, roadside in the rain in Ponferrada for the 2014 Men's World Road Cycling Championships.
Sept 29, 2014 - It’s been a great week of road race action from Spain and we have a full EuroTrash with all the results, comments and videos from Ponferrada. Sven Nys has started the cyclo-cross season, plus we have more race and team news and say good-bye to Cadel Evans. Get a big coffee.
Race report: Poland got everything right today, with Michal Kwiatkowski putting the rainbow-colored gloss on a perfect team performance. Kwiatkowski soloed across to, and away from, a late escape group, and flew to a perfect solo Worlds victory.
Roadside Report: Roadside for the action & back stage before and after the race for the reactions - Ed Hood was everywhere in Ponferrada today as he watched the Junior Men's Road Race in the morning and then the big Women's Race in the afternoon where France's Pauline Ferrand-Prevot upset the favorites with a great sprint victory.
Race Report: A high quality field led to some high quality racing but the Women's Road race wasn't without its surprises. Rain, crashes and some questionable tactics saw the race coming down to a select group sprint won in a photo finish by France's Pauline Ferrand-Prevot.
Roadside PEZ: With the World's next big stars battling it out in the U/23 Road Race there was nowhere else our veteran reporter and talent spotter Ed Hood would rather be than roadside in Ponferrada soaking up the atmosphere and action. Here's a look at Ed's first day roadside at the 2014 World Road Cycling Championships.
Race Report: With the Australians sticking to their game-plan, and controlling the race throughout, the one thing they hadn’t considered was a well-timed attack from the Norwegian powerhouse Sven Erik Bystrom. He timed his uphill attack to perfection and flew down to Ponferrada to take the best win of his young career.
So far the tv coverage of racing in Ponferrada has been anything but picturesque, so PEZ took a trip to the nearby ancient and scenic caves of Las Medulas for a taste of local culture, chorizo suasages, and gelato.
Race Preview: The biggest one-day race of the year is on Sunday in Ponferrada. The winner will wear the Rainbow jersey for a year and put his name in the record books for eternity. Ed Hood gives us the Worlds low-down on his way to Spain.
Sept 25, 2014 - The World time trials are behind us, they were dominated by Australia and Germany and a Mr. Wiggins filled a space in his wardrobe with a ITT Rainbow jersey. Results, video and comments from Ponferrada, world road race preview, plus team, rider and race news. A full EuroTrash Thursday.
Race Report: There was a right royal battle for the 2014 time trial crown and in the end it came down to the two top men against the watch; Bradley Wiggins and Tony Martin. Martin was the early leader, but Wiggins put the pressure on for the final win.
Race Report: Lennard Kamna in the morning and Lisa Brennauer in the afternoon made for a German double in today’s World championship time trials in Ponferrada. Brennauer was one of the late starters, but she built up her speed to storm force for the win, just like the weather at the finish.
Attorney and former professional cyclist Bob Mionske says, “Don’t do it!” Traffic codes universally discourage it, and most rational individuals would consider it ill-advised. If that’s the case, what is the appeal of motor pacing?
Race report: Well, if you're going to snatch a last gasp world title you might as well do it by the narrowest margin you can manage. Rainbow-banded joy for Australia's Campbell Flakemore, as the luck of the Irish deserted another pre-race favorite, Ryan Mullen. The winner's advantage? 0.48 seconds!
More top line gear from Interbike'14 with Silca’s best-in-show winning floor pump, Assos' latest kit, the best-in-class chamois makers Elastic Interface, new wheels from Vittoria and 3T’s latest cockpit gear.

Race Report: All eyes were on past champions Omega Pharma – Quick-Step to take their third team time trial World championships. It wasn’t to be, maybe it was the rain or the wind, or just that the BMC team were faster.
And now for something completely different - an MTB on PEZ! Yes, we're a roadie site and proud of it but when PEZ fan Dick - a keen roadie himself - sent in pics of his Pro Cruiser MTB even our roadie brains were interested in this bike. It's one of only 600 that were made between 1978 and 1984 and makes claim to being the first production MTB.
Photo Special: After the wet, yet spectacular road race on Saturday, the Sunday criterium turned out to be a dry yet equally spectacular affair. Ace photographer Darrell Parks runs us through some of his favorite photos from the mens and womens races at the Bucks County Classic, Doylestown Criterium.
