Giro Di PEZ: Zoncolan “La Bee-Yotcha”
Monday, June 04, 2007  12:30:35 PM PT
The Giro is done and gone for 2007, but there's no harm in retracing some agonizing climbing up arguably the hardest climb on the planet! Epic is the only word to describe the ride to, up, and back from Monte Zoncolan yesterday ahead of the Giro’s 17th stage. It’s the toughest climb I’ve done, and has yet again raised my admiration for the pros who race up stuff like this. Here’s what it’s like for the rest of us.

Giro’07 St.21: Killer Takes Pink; AleJet Flies Again!
Sunday, June 03, 2007  12:32:10 PM PT
Sticking the words of myriad critics down their throats, Danilo Di Luca confirmed his first Grand Tour success in Milan. The Liquigas chief won the race he always wanted to, and did it in style. Maybe the fact he ain’t bothered about the TdF will help raise the profile of the Giro and all the other great races around Europe.

Giro ’07 St. 20: Di Luca Confirms Giro Victory
Saturday, June 02, 2007  11:16:53 AM PT
Well here we are, the second last stage of this years Giro d’Italia and what a “belter” this year’s edition has been. Today gives some riders the chance of moving up a place here or there and there could be surprises for the starts, we don’t really know how Andy Schleck time trials and Cunego will want to jump over his “old mate” Simoni on overall, and Mazzoleni?

Dario's Diario - Goin' For It On The Zoncolan
Friday, June 01, 2007  10:42:33 AM PT
When we last spoke to Dario it was on the rest day; he told us that he was planning an attack on one of the two transition stages. Instead he 'went for it' on the day the stage finished on the mighty Zoncolan, defying the GC guys and only succumbing as the final dice were tossed.

Giro'07 St.17 - Simoni's Playground
Wednesday, May 30, 2007  10:23:41 AM PT
This was it for Gilberto Simoni, the oft-mentioned best climber in the Giro, the man that would unseat Di Luca in the mountains. The Zoncolan would be the scene for the final showdown, and the vicious slopes did not disappoint, and if anything provided yet another opportunity for Danilo Di Luca to display his immense class as Simoni went for his throat.

Giro07 St.16: Garzelli Licks 'Em In Lienz!
Tuesday, May 29, 2007  1:58:24 PM PT
PEZ called it - those nasty bumps in the last 50 km of today's stage set the perfect stage for more exciting racing as Sefano Garzelli did the business again - and he did it in style - going solo and holding off the chase on the flat finale.

Giro di PEZ: Stage 16's Tough Finale
Tuesday, May 29, 2007  1:56:54 PM PT
Today’s 16th stage from Agordo to Lienz in Austria is anything but easy. After a close review of the stage profile, I wanted to see the final 33km for myself. On paper they look like the teeth of an broken saw – in reality they feel more like an Ardennes classic – without the flat bits in between.

Giro di PEZ: Rest Day Redemption
Monday, May 28, 2007  10:11:55 AM PT
It’s the weather that's not cooperating. The days since my arrival at the Giro’s final week have been rain-filled and gloomy. After getting shutout of my planned big pass ride on yesterday’s stage 15, I was determined to sample the finishing climb today. And inspite of the crappola weather… redemption was mine, although not exactly as I'd expected.
