Let's say you're Dave Zabriskie. You've worn the yellow jersey, you've cut your hand wide open, and your 2005 season is at an end. What are you doing to prep for 2006? Well, most likely you're ending a rest period and getting back on the bike. So, what better time to answer a bunch of totally non-cycling questions from your favorite "weird question asker" PEZ guy?
PEZ: How many eggs are in the perfect omellete, according to DZ?
DZ: 3 eggs
PEZ: Ever hear the one about the two bulls standing on a bluff looking at a herd of cows?
DZ: Not yet.
PEZ: What's your favorite beer?
DZ: MGD
Sometimes you just gotta look at things from a different perspective, even pro bike racers...
PEZ: Would you go see Iron Maiden with me? They're out and about playing again, you know.
DZ: Sure thing.
PEZ: What did you shoot back home with your T-16?
DZ: Man I don’t even know what a T-16 is.
PEZ: Aw man, I thoughts you was a big ol' Star Wars fan... I musta had some bad information. But anyway, a follow up: your first and favorite star wars figure? I was jazzed about my first Jawa.
DZ: X-wing.
PEZ: Sweet! Did you ever rock a mullet? Come on Dave, be honest. I did. It's ok if you did. We're all ex-mullets in one way, shape, or form.
DZ: I did in elementary school, but it all blended together like Eric Roberts in ‘Best of the Best’.
PEZ: New York Times or Salt Lake Tribune?
DZ: I read some of the Trib because my mom gets it delivered, but I always go out for a Sunday Times and catch up on the rest of the world.
PEZ: Exactly how much wood could be chucked? I mean, really?
DZ: It depends on the wood chuck, right?
PEZ: Do you trust anyone that doesn't drink coffee?
DZ: I have to I live in Utah.
PEZ: Have you ever put explosives in, on, or around a bike?
DZ: Yes.
PEZ: Bless you, my son.
PEZ: Ever play in dumpsters as a kid? Eat paste?
DZ: Nope.
PEZ: This may clearly illustrate why you are where you are and I'm... oh, nevermind.
PEZ: How 'bout them White Sox? I'm sure Vande Velde was jazzed about it.
DZ: I'm sure he is.
PEZ: Request - Play some really old American black death metal for a guy like Bettini or Petacchi if you get a chance. I would be curious as to which swear word would come out of their pie holes first. Try some Cannibal Corpse or some Napalm Death. I bet that'd elicit a unique response. Huzzah!
DZ: I’m pretty sure they'd just say "figa"; they say that about everything.
PEZ: Hey, thanks Dave, we appreciate the time and the interview. As always, we wish you tons of luck and safe riding in 2006. Have a great training camp and we'll catch up with you soon!
