Saturday, November 14, 2009  12:37:26 PM PT
In a world where money is in short supply, it's encouraging that there are so many pro cyclists in the UK. Or is it? Sponsor of Team Velo Ecosse, a long established UK amateur team thinks that there's a lot of self delusion going on."

Eat To Compete: It’s Soup Time!
Thursday, November 12, 2009  6:25:55 PM PT
Soup, on many levels, is one of the best things to eat this time of year. It’s warm, it’s a great way to stay full without over-eating (when reduced intensity and mileage means a need for far fewer calories than during peak season) and they can be full of vitamin and mineral-rich vegetables. They can also taste great – like this Butternut Squash, Chorizo, and Black Bean Soup.

Rest In Peace: Dimitri De Fauw
Saturday, November 07, 2009  8:38:25 AM PT
It's easy to write an obituary when one of your heroes dies - probably more so if you don't know them well. There's just the legend, palmares, anecdotes and the sadness. But I knew Dimitri De Fauw, not well, but I worked at maybe half-a-dozen six day races where he was riding.

TDF'10: Mr. Hood's Take On The Tour Presentation
Wednesday, October 14, 2009  6:51:55 PM PT
"I'll knock you out!" says the slim guy in the black shirt, he uses some other words too - but this is a family website. When he first started shoving and barging to get through the throng, I thought it was some over keen journo, trying for that special quote. But then the verbals started; broad scouse - you don't get in Cav's way when he's trying to get to his seat beside his chum Lance!

Baby PEZ: From TT To Sprint!
Wednesday, October 14, 2009  4:20:48 PM PT
Friday morning was a big day at PEZ HQ. Mrs. Pez delivered our second child – a beautiful daughter. But like all things PEZ, this was a little different. I wheeled us into the hospital at 8:10AM, and by 8:25 she was in our arms. A sprinter if ever there was one…

PEZ Presents: The 1952 Giro Di Lombardia
Wednesday, October 14, 2009  9:16:43 AM PT
Lombardia Preview: Utter confusion was the look on my face when Alessandro handed me the old newspaper and said it was a gift. Upon closer inspection, I realized I was holding the official program of the 1952 Giro di Lombardia – in mint condition! Once I got over the shock that such a treasure still existed – I couldn’t wait to share it with PEZ-Fans…

Tuesday, October 13, 2009  8:50:19 AM PT
"RIP VDB" said the text from John Stollery, waiting for me, when I woke up; there were others too, from Dave and Stevie, all expressing sadness - for all his faults, he was a hard man to dislike. He was just 34, cause of death is cited as a 'blood clot.'

Monday, October 12, 2009  9:30:08 AM PT

It’s one of the last and finest Classics on the pro calendar and one of the best races you could ever hope to see in Italy." Ale Federico thinks it is second only to Sanremo and Lombardia, and wonders why it's not on the ProTour calendar. Let's take a closer look at one of the most beautiful races of the season. Read on!

PEZ Does USPRO: The Dream Day!
Wednesday, September 02, 2009  9:24:47 AM PT
While George Hincapie was busy lining his prodigious trophy case with yet another chunk of success, I had my own chance to add to my, er, memory's trophy case. My ride at USPRO ended with a DNF, but the day was oh so much more than those three letters. It was one of the best days on a bike I've ever experienced.

PEZ Does USPRO: From The Couch To The Start
Thursday, August 27, 2009  11:17:38 AM PT
I'm never one for going the easy, proper way. Most normal people that have a goal, like to work toward it in a measured, consistent fashion. I, however, prefer a challenge. Over the course of a year spent in Innsbruck, Austria, I became more writer than rider, but come June of this summer, I realized that I wanted to get back to being a rider. I not only wanted to race bikes again, I wanted to race USPRO - let the fun begin!

Passo Stelvio: Climbing for Dummies
Thursday, August 20, 2009  7:57:24 AM PT
Today, I instinctively awake at 6:30 am and know that it is a Stelvio Day. This week, almighty rains and hail have transformed the Alto Adige region of Italy from its typically suffocating August malaise into a paradise. The temperature is warm, but the air is cool. The sky is amazingly deep and clear yielding colors brilliant and rich. Such perfection requires a special ride attached to it. Now or never. Work be damned!

Wheel Building: A Dodgy Idea Meets A Master
Sunday, August 09, 2009  6:19:37 AM PT
We all know that Cycling Élan means understanding the subtle balance between tradition and technology. Sometimes the hazy boundaries need to be explored. Sometimes one has to ask a dumb question like, "can 25 year old rims be better than new ones?" PezGambler, Corey Sar Fox, wagers that they can be. He enlists an Italian master mechanic, Marco Balduzzi, to prove it. Along the way, Marco shares some of his special wheel building tips.
